Somatic Relational Bodywork

Sessions use a gentle touch to focus on listening to the unspoken language of the body through its tissue responses, rhythms, micro-movements, pulsations, and patterns of ease and resistance. This work uses collaborative processes that include working together to explore patterns of tension, bracing, fatigue, comfort, and other felt sensations in the body through guided somatic awareness, bodywork, quiet listening, and conversation. Through this gentle, hands-on work, the practitioner "listens" for and responds to the messages from your body that come through the acupuncture meridians, cerebrospinal fluid, pulses, tissues, nervous system, biofield, and other elements, working to support a deeper sense of being at home in your own body.
During sessions, we communicate about what areas of your system are in need of support and attention as we work together to follow the messages from the body itself. Techniques integrated from acupuncture theory, Somatic Biofield Therapy™, CranioSacral Therapy, Somatic Experiencing®, NeuroAffective Touch®, Pranic Healing®, and other holistic practices are part of this process as we attend to the body itself, the emotions, and the energy field. Weaving energy medicine into sessions supports flow where things are stuck, encourages ease where things are difficult, and encourages stability and organization where things feel collapsed or chaotic. These methods are informed through an interdisciplinary approach that includes concepts from East Asian Medicine and acupuncture theory, anatomy & physiology, neuroscience, interpersonal neurobiology, polyvagal theory, somatic psychology, and transpersonal psychology.
Relational bodywork is about building and strengthening your relationship within your own body-mind-soul system and giving you access to the free flow of your own life force energy. It offers support for moving stuck energy and for nervous system regulation through relational connection and co-regulation with the practitioner. Communication between practitioner and client reinforces a sense of safety in the nervous system and offers guidance towards your own sense of inner knowing. It honors the body itself as a wise aspect of your complete wholeness with its own way of knowing as it communicates about shifts in the biofield in real-time. We practice hearing the somatic language of the body through sensation awareness, imagery, and dialogue as we explore the energetic and imaginal realms.
Techniques are designed to bring a sense of support, compassion, and curiosity to the experiences of the body-mind-soul so that we may fully listen and lean into the ways your system may be asking for care and support. This work is energetic in nature while also directly attending to responses of tissues, structures, and systems of the physical body that may be reflecting our energetic and emotional imprints, holding tension, fear, shame, anger, and other blockages or patterns of disorganization that keep us from fully accessing our life force energy.
We give space to notice, honor, and integrate your experiences. This style of bodywork is a holistic, collaborative partnership that helps us deepen into who we are at our core while giving awareness to somatic and transcendent experiences. It is an opportunity to have a trusted companion on your path with you as you explore how experiences show up in your energy field and in your body as we experience personal growth, healing work, hope, love, forgiveness, compassion, grief, pain, deep questions, fears, and all the things that life's journey asks us to hold.
These gentle techniques work with the natural pacing of the nervous system and can be greatly supportive for working with:

Microsystems Therapies

Microsystems theories examine how one part of who we are represents and communicates with other parts. Some of the most well known modalities that utilize this way of looking at the body include systems based on theories such as acupuncture and reflexology, though many other healing modalities use this concept. These systems view parts of the body such as the feet, hands, scalp, abdomen, and ears as mirrors that can reflect and influence other areas.
This is also known as working with fractals or holographic representation. While the specific theories between modalities can differ, at its core, this means that smaller parts contain the same wisdom and patterns of the whole. In East Asian Medicine, humans are seen as a smaller representation (microcosm) of the universe (the macrocosm). This means humans carry within them, a reflection of the organizational intelligence of the greater universe. Based on the same way of thinking, the feet in reflexology for example, carry within them the organizational intelligence of the rest of the entire body. This idea helps one to understand why concepts such as working with the sphenoid bone in CranioSacral Therapy can support organization in the hips and pelvis (they have a similar shape and appearance) and why working with the throat can influence the pelvic floor (the tissues develop similarly embryologically). There is a similar line of thinking in herbal medicine called Doctrine of Signatures. Perhaps you've seen how elderberry branches and berries look like the bronchioles and alveoli of the lungs or how walnuts resemble a brain.
Microsystems therapies excel at offering tools for relaxation, pain management, and a holistic form of whole body support. Going beyond physical symptoms, deeper into the foundational theories of these healing modalities, we also see how emotions, thoughts, personal challenges, and spiritual learning experiences manifest in the body. As such, these methods are also useful for quieting the mind, accessing inner wisdom, and supporting personal growth. Foot reflexology may be included in sessions to support relaxation, body-mind connection, and a sense of being more fully anchored into your body.

Pranic Healing®

Pranic Healing® is a hands-off energy healing practice developed in the Philippines by Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui. It follows a process of cleansing, energizing, and stabilizing the energy system to remove energy blockages and bring in fresh qi/prana while you rest on a cozy table. Pranic Healing® works similarly to acupuncture, but without the use of needles. It is excellent for working with stress, chronic pain, and trauma healing. It is unique in that it does not require talking about traumatic experiences. This modality is gentle yet powerful and relaxing yet energizing. It paves the way for greater access to your own wisdom, joy, and growth.
Four Winds Energy Medicine

These advanced energy medicine practices work with imprints and information in the Luminous Energy Field as taught by Dr. Alberto Villoldo, Marcela Lobos, and The Four Winds Light Body School. Sessions may include releasing imprints, removing intrusive energies, soul retrieval, ritual guidance, energy medicine-based coaching & education, death rites, and related practices.
This work is based on an Andean lineage of healing traditions. It is offered for personal healing and spiritual growth. It is holistic in nature and considers the interplay of the body, mind/emotions, soul, and spirit in our human experience.

Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy is offered to help alleviate deeply held patterns of musculoskeletal tension. It supports the fascial system and soft tissue mobility, lymphatic movement, circulation, and qi flow. Cupping therapy uses a combination of gliding and stationary silicone suction cups to lift and decompress congested tissues.
Cupping is most often used on areas of large muscles such as the back, hips, and legs. Additional supports such as essential oil protocols and reflexology can be included in sessions if desired. |
These modalities offer tools for accessing peace deep within the core of the body systems and tissues as we notice and integrate energetic shifts in real-time through the actual language of the body.
Soul Tending

Soul tending is also sometimes known as spiritual companionship, spiritual mentoring, or spiritual direction. The spiritual support I weave into my work is holistic and person-centered. My approach honors your personal beliefs, practices, traditions, preferences, and experiences. I offer support and witnessing as your path unfolds. I work with those who are exploring concepts around all aspects of the human experience including what spirituality means to you, support for deepening your sense of connection to what you consider sacred, and exploring your own unique sense of the divine whether folks consider themselves to be spiritual, religious, seeking, or otherwise interested in soul journey work. There is no right, wrong, good, bad, judgment, or agenda in this work. We simply give space to notice, honor, and integrate your experiences for your own spiritual deepening and personal processes. Find more information here.
Soul tending is not therapy. It is a non-dogmatic, non-religious, collaborative partnership in which we explore and discover your unique gifts, journey, and perspectives. We partner to process transcendent experiences and work towards deeper understanding and connection with however it is that you experience the divine. As a soul tender, ordained minister (Interfaith identifying), and experienced energy medicine practitioner, I also offer Death Doula services in the Chippewa Valley.

Yoga

I began practicing yoga in 1993 and started teaching in 2005. I weave yoga philosophy into all of my work. My focus is on somatic education, building body-mind connection, and accessing inner wisdom. I always emphasize well-informed, safe mobility work, strength and stability, self-awareness, and slow, steady progress that nourishes the body.
I have had specialized training in Viniyoga, Tantra Yoga, trauma-informed yoga, restorative yoga, and yoga nidra. These styles and methods help support our ability to get to to know our own bodies and nervous systems and help build our interoceptive and proprioceptive skills.
We may bring balance work, exploring resistance, trampoline work, and other embodiment-focused support into our practices. Props such as blankets, bolsters, chairs, balls, and other tools are readily available.
I am well versed in developing safe yoga practices for those with concerns around hypermobility, physical injuries, neurological challenges such as with MS, trauma histories, and other complex concerns.
In the somatically-focused style of yoga I offer, it's about the experience of embodiment and what we learn through the process. It's not about the "postures" or specific outcomes. Please have no worries if you are new to movement practices of if you don't consider yourself to be "flexible." If you can breathe and feel you can do this kind of yoga.
I have studied with many teachers over the years. This is the lineage of my primary teachers: Mary Hilliker| Michelle Young| Ana Pilar Cruz --> Gary Kraftsow | Richard Miller --> T.K.V. Desikachar --> Tirumalai Krishnamacharya

Plant MedicinePlant medicine may be woven into sessions via flower essences, handcrafted herbal tinctures, essential oils, and other methods. We incorporate energy medicine concepts and somatic awareness practices with drop-dose plant wisdom through pulse testing to support the the body's flow of life force energy. This work supports you in bringing attention to your own inner experiences and personal growth with the assistance of plant medicine.
Plants have been our guides and helpers as long as humans have walked on the planet. They possess the ability to remind us how to flow through life smoothly again when energy and emotions become stuck, stagnant, or depleted. Plant medicine can be especially useful when a person is in a life transition, when doing growth work, or whenever we have the desire to simply feel more deeply nourished. The plants provide subtle, yet powerful support to help you along your path as you release the conditioned layers of "not you" in order to express more of who you are with clarity and confidence. |
